FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance?

Out-of-Network Provider: The Wellness Collective clinicians are not on any insurance panels, but we can provide you with a "Superbill" that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Good Faith Estimate: You will receive a Good Faith Estimate at the start of our work together so you are aware of the estimated costs involved.

Understanding Your Benefits: Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. To understand your coverage, please contact your insurance provider and ask:

Do I have mental health benefits?

How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?

    What is my out-of-network deductible?

How do I submit a Superbill for reimbursement?

Do I need a referral from my primary care physician?

Reimbursement Process: Once monthly, we will provide you with a detailed superbill containing all necessary information for insurance submission. You will submit this directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement according to your plan's out-of-network benefits.

  • Why aren’t you on insurance panels?

The Wellness Collective is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. While we are not contracted with insurance companies, we do provide Superbills that clients can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

We’ve chosen not to join insurance panels because doing so can often limit the length or type of care we can provide. Insurance typically requires a mental health diagnosis to authorize treatment, which may not always be clinically necessary or in line with a client’s preferences. Our goal is to offer thoughtful, individualized care that aligns with your goals, not dictated by insurance policies.

To support accessibility, we offer a limited number of sliding scale spots, participate in Open Path and Care Solace for clients seeking lower-fee services, and provide group therapy offerings at a more affordable price point. We believe that everyone deserves meaningful, personalized support, and we do our best to make that accessible in a way that also preserves clinical integrity.

  • What is an Associate, and are they qualified to provide psychotherapy?

Yes, Associates are qualified to provide psychotherapy. In California, becoming a licensed therapist requires earning a Master’s degree in a clinical field (like Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling) and then completing 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience—a process that typically takes 2–3 years. These clinicians are registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and work under supervision while gaining this post-graduate experience.

At The Wellness Collective, all Associates are closely supervised by Leah Niehaus, LCSW, an experienced clinician who provides ongoing training, support, and clinical oversight to ensure high-quality care. Our Associates come with strong academic backgrounds and meaningful clinical experience. If a case presents with concerns beyond their current scope, they will consult with their supervisor and—if appropriate—help connect you with a more experienced provider.

  • What is the Cancellation Policy?

Each client will receive one free late cancel or no-show. After that, any cancellations made within a 24-hour window will be charged the full cost of the treatment as booked.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit Card Preferred.  Check/cash also accepted.
