Discipline Matters

🌟Weekly Inspiration🌟

“Have a practice, Practice your practice, Be faithful to your practice and…Your practice will be faithful to you!”

In our family, we’ve had a special tennis coach over the years that has taught us all. He has functioned as a coach and spiritual mentor 🌟. Keep your eyes open because sometimes your spiritual mentors show up in unexpected places! He likes to repeat this quote, encouraging us to be disciplined about growing our tennis skills. Of course, the message is bigger than tennis and can be applied to all of life. Consider a few takeaways:

*Have a practice (or a few!)
*The building blocks of discipline begin in small ways over time
*Sports/Academics/Music/Prayer can often be the fertile ground for developing discipline
*What you put into something, often determines what you get out of something
*Being faithful, consistent, and disciplined actually matters
*How you show up in your life is important

Ask Yourself

Am I disciplined about things that matter to me?
If not, why? What gets in my way?
Do the people in my family have a practice?
Do my children practice something they’ve selected or something that I've curated?
Is it ok to lose interest and find something new to practice?
What do I role model for my children in terms of discipline?
Have I lost my own interests and opportunities for “practice” because I’m overly child-focused?
Am I out of touch with practice?
Where have I found spiritual mentors?
Who are my children’s spiritual mentors?

Be well!
